Sheppey Matters is an award winning Health and Wellbeing registered Charity, working for a better health on the Isle of Sheppey. Established over twenty five years ago.
Our office is situated at Sheppey Healthy Living Centre in Sheerness which currently delivers over twelve health and wellbeing projects from Sheppey. Healthy Living Centre, two outreach locations and many other community venues around the Isle of Sheppey.
Many of our projects are household names; The Community Chef, Sheppey Wheels & Sheppey Community Media Centre are our most established. Our projects cover a wide range of ages and abilities and are fully inclusive. Our dedicated, hard-working and passionate team of over 29 full and part time staff, ably assisted by over 70 volunteers and not forgetting a fully involved and community minded board of trustees, provides year-round activities, programmes, courses, trips and genera advice and assistance.
Isle Connect You – Tackling loneliness and isolation in the over 65s.
Well Life – Providing wellness activities including Community Chef, Community Gardener and Everyday Active Champion.
Sheppey Wheels – Community transport for all and day trips.
Miles and Smiles – Minibus transport to the Island’s disabled community.
Sheppey Community Media Centre – Delivering radio training opportunities for young people and home to the Sheppey’s community radio station Sheppey FM 92.2.
Eastchurch Community Hub – A safe place for those to get together and enjoy others company. Providing craft skills, workshops, local resource information and IT Support.
Sheppey Healthy Living Centre – Our home and base for over 25 wellbeing delivery partners.
Rural Youth – Supporting young people through clubs, sessions, sexual health advice and counselling.
1,2,3, ADHD & Me – Supporting families and children for those living with ADHD.
Grub Hub – Prepares, cooks and delivers 70 meals per week for those in need and identified by partners, agencies and groups.
IT Support – For those wanting an introduction to or extra help with mobile phone, laptop or any tech device.
Mentalk – A mental health support group for men by men.
Sheppey Dads Matters – A group to support dads and male caregivers, allowing them to take part in activities and more time to positively engage with their children.
The charity also has a Hub in Eastchurch and a beach hut in Leysdown and lease the Healthy Living Centre.
