The Big Bash was a fantastic event with over 650 people entering through the main gates (and many more joining via the tennis courts!) for a day packed with fun, support, and community spirit. Over 20 local support groups and organisations participated, sharing valuable resources and services with the community including Sateda, Samuels charity, Imago, Song Signing Academy, EKC, Community wardens, swale foodbank and New Road football club to name a few.
Children had a blast with classic attractions like Creepy Crawlies, bouncy castles, face painting, and a special chance to try on police uniforms with local officer PC Alice.
Many even dressed up for our “Best costume” contest, with prizes supplied by our Everyday Active Champion, Julie Calder.
Julie also hosted a “Walk-In Wellness Hub” in the Abbey Room, featuring services like Cardiac Care, Retrain the Pain support, and “One You,” offering free health MOTs. For the first time, local craft stalls were part of the event, attracting new faces and adding to the vibrant atmosphere. In the Waterfront Room, we held a popular Halloween Costume Creation and Swap Shop run by Jade, a Repair Cafe volunteer and art teacher, with support from our youth team. Over 50 attendees created unique, eco-friendly costumes, discovering the fun of recycling and reusing.
The Big Bash was a celebration of our community, full of joy, connection, and support. Thank you to everyone who came out—we look forward to more events like this in the future!
