Blessed with sunshine our annual free Big Bash event on Friday 28th August was another huge success. Taking over the Old Mill Café and the Community allotments at Eastchurch the team at Sheppey Matters staged a fantastic event full of exciting activities for families, children and the whole community. Over 250 members of the community showed support and took part in the fun, from messy art fun with Justin Aggett from the Arts and Media team creating a canvas to trying their hand at adventure, from exploring the kingdom of Creepy Claws to the beauty of the birds from Eagle Highs. those not afraid of heights took to the climbing wall or hit the bouncy castle to let off steam.
The BBQ provided by the Work this Way was in demand all day with a delicious range of hot dogs and burgers, MacMillan held a cake fund raiser in the Old Mill Café and Community Chefs Mike Spackman and Sally Reed rustled up some Spanish flavour with a freshly cooked Paella. Not forgetting local produce our Community Gardner Nicola Waghorne auctioned off a basket of locally grown seasonal vegetables and very tasty they looked too.All activities were provided free and local artisans set up stalls to sell their wares.
