We had an awesome session at our Holiday Repair Café! The young people were given a remote control car to fix – armed with a how-to video and some paper instructions. It was a bit of a challenge, but every single one of them (plus a few staff members who couldn’t resist joining in) managed to get their car up and running. And once they’d finished, they got to race them around – which made all the hard work totally worth it.
The vibe was great and the feedback was even better. Here’s what some of the young people had to say:
“It was fun taking it apart and figuring out how to put it back together.”
“I liked seeing how it all works.”
“Some parts were tricky, but it felt good to get it working – and playing with it after was the best bit.”
“I’m actually proud of myself – I didn’t think I could do it!”
Safe to say, we’ll definitely be doing something like this again.
