“Sheppey Matters have a really exciting opportunity for all the Residents and Businesses of the Island to get involved in shaping the growth of Sheppey. The Government’s Coastal Communities fund has enabled us to prepare a detailed plan identifying the problems we face in helping our economy to grow.
Under the banner of “Sheppey Proud” a team of local people have put together a survey, and we aim to consult with interested parties right across the Island identifying community concerns and listening to residents’ ideas on what they want to see on Sheppey.
This consultation process, finishing on the 15th November, will form the backbone of our research and will feature heavily in our final presentation to the Government to hopefully unlock further funding to kick start these improvements.
Thankyou to everyone you took part in our survey

The island has a population that is now big enough to support a permanent cinema. The old library in Sheerness would make a good small multiplex with parking very close by and it would give this empty building a good purpose.
I remember as a boy sitting on the beach a sheerness, but since we have removed the beach groynes we have lost the build up of shingle (Groynes are usually made of wood or concrete and are built to trap sand and hold it on the beach.)
I know that constructing a pier in Sheerness would be very expensive but perhaps we could extent the jetty in sheerness out further into the sea.
A Big Thank you to everyone who has taken our online survey, we really value your opinions.
Keep those surveys coming in and please tell a friend and get them to have their say to, let us make “Sheppey Proud”.

Thanks Robert,
some fondly remembered reminiscences of our Sheerness beaches. Hope you got a chance to take our survey, the results are in and watch this space for more news on what Sheppey wants.
